What are the typical functions of pH meter ?

(1) pH Measurement: The primary function of a pH meter is to accurately measure the pH value of a solution. It typically includes a pH electrode immersed in the solution being measured. The pH electrode generates a small electrical potential proportional to the concentration of hydrogen ions in the solution. Different industries have different requirements for pH electrodes.
(2)Signal Conditioning: The electrical potential generated by the pH electrode is very small and requires amplification and conditioning for accurate measurement. The pH meter amplifies and conditions the signal from the pH electrode to ensure accuracy and reliability.
(3)Temperature Compensation: pH measurement is temperature-dependent, meaning that pH values vary with temperature fluctuations. pH meter typically include temperature sensors or compensation circuits to adjust pH readings based on the temperature of the solution being measured. This ensures that pH measurements remain accurate within a certain temperature range.
(4)Output Signal: After processing pH measurements and performing temperature compensation, the pH transmitter generates an output signal representing the measured pH value. Common output signals include analog signals like 4-20mA or voltage signals, as well as digital signals like Modbus or HART protocols. These signals can be transmitted to control systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, or other devices for further processing, recording, or control purposes. SULIS pH transmitters typically feature two channels of isolated 4-20mA analog outputs, capable of transmitting pH and temperature
(5)Calibration and Maintenance: pH meter typically include calibration and diagnostic functions to ensure long-term accurate and reliable pH measurements. Users can calibrate the transmitter regularly using pH buffer solutions and perform diagnostic checks to validate the performance of the pH measurement system.
