Unlike granular activated carbon, a carbon block cartridge is a solid, compressed block of activated carbon. This means water cannot bypass the carbon — every drop must pass through the full filtration media. The result is more consistent and thorough removal of residual chlorine, tastes, odours, and some cysts compared to GAC alone.
